The X-Men and Handmaid’s Tale stars appear for the first time in a new show
Fans of the acclaimed 2017 documentary Removed in plain sight will be delighted with the upcoming drama series Peacock A family friendwhich has just released its first trailer.
The series follows the true story of Robert Berchtold, who was friends with the Broberg family and kidnapped their daughter Jan Broberg twice over several years.
Office alum Jake Lacy plays Berchtold, while x-men starring Anna Paquin and The Handmaid’s TaleMcKenna Grace also appears.
The chilling trailer shows insight into how the kidnappings happened and how close Berchtold was to the Broberg family. The series consists of nine episodes and will premiere on the Peacock streaming service on October 6 this year.
Grace plays the role of Jan Broberg, at the center of the series. Previously, Grace appeared as Esther Keyes in three episodes of The Handmaid’s Talewhile she also starred in Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Paquin, who played Snape in the original x-men films, will play Jan’s mother. Previously, Paquin became the second-youngest Oscar winner in history in 1994 when she won Best Supporting Actress for The piano. Jan’s dad role is Colin Hanks, who has starred in a handful of acclaimed movies and TV shows, including King Kong, Fargo and Band of brothers.
Top Knot Films, the same production company that made Removed in plain sight, produced the series while Nick Antosca created the series. Antosca previously created Hulu’s crime thriller TV series The act and the Netflix horror series New cherry flavor.
Fans can expect a tinge of horror in A family friend given the background of the creator and the material at hand. The 2017 documentary Removed in plain sightwhich premiered on Netflix in 2019, was hailed as an illuminating insight into a strange and twisted story about a man in Idaho.
