But the fires of Mount Doom won’t wait for any man (or elf), and you better believe Amazon Prime Video is planning to milk its the Lord of the Rings IP as long as possible. (There are even more JRR Tolkien footnotes to explore!) So four more seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are already in the queue, because Rings co-showrunner JD Payne revealed even before the first season.

“There are things in the first season that don’t pay off until season 5,” Payne said. Empire in June 2022. “We even know what our last plan of the last episode will be.”

With that in mind, here’s what we know about what’s next for Middle-earth.

Will be rings of power do you have a season 2?

Yes, and three more after. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, revealed during an interview with Variety, “We are building infrastructure for five seasons. We are building a small town. We were always going to spend what we had to spend to get it right.

When is season 2 of rings of power go out?

Five seasons are planned in total, with Season 2 expected as soon as possible, possibly even in 2023. As Salke revealed, the second chapter is already in production. “We’re going to get this out to the world as soon as we can,” she said. Variety. “We want the shortest possible time between seasons, but we want to keep the bar just as high. So it will take what it takes. But there was a certain urgency to move fast, which is why these guys wrote throughout their hiatus. We are moving fast.

Who will be in the cast?

Most of the main cast are expected to return including Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh, Daniel Weyman, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Sophia Nomvete, and more.

But Prime Video also announced a new addition to the cast: Círdan, a wise old elf with a pivotal role not only in the Second Age of Middle-earth, but also in its Third and Fourth. We don’t yet know who will play the new character, but expect an announcement as production continues.

What will season 2 be about?

We don’t yet know much about the plot details for next season, though Galadriel will likely still be reeling from her crush gone bad, bless her. As Payne said Squire in an October 2022 interview, “Even knowing that Sauron was partially involved in the science behind the making of the rings, we see [Galadriel] give the go-ahead to do the rings anyway. She must also assume some responsibility: “I strengthened the Dark Lord. I saved his life on a raft. I was one of those who emerged from obscurity to lead an army. It’s a lot of things she has to struggle with and be responsible for. I think we can expect to see her having to pick up those threads and see how those decisions affect her various relationships.

So we can expect some tension between Galadriel and Elrond, with the latter seemingly learning Halbrand’s true identity from a genealogy scroll he retrieves in the final moments of Season 1. it’s pretty clear at the end that there’s a bit of a conflict there,” writer Gennifer Hutchinson said. Polygon. “She made a big request of him. We really wanted to have that. ‘This is the real test; you said you would trust me. We really wanted to make sure that happened.

And while Charlie Vickers’ Halbrand heads for the lava-spitting mouth of Mount Doom in the final footage of Season 1, we can expect much higher stakes in Season 2. The real battle is about to come. to begin.
