‘Master Z’ Trailer: Dave Bautista and Michelle Yeoh Kick Ass in ‘Ip Man’ Movie
Check out the US trailer to arrive for Master Z: The Legacy of Ip Manthe fourth film in the franchise which debuted with Donnie Yen in 2008 with Ip-Man.
This spin-off film follows Cheung Tin-chi (Max Zhang), who was defeated by Master Ip (Yen) in IP Man 3. He’s trying to rebuild his life in Hong Kong, but, of course, that won’t happen. Cue punches and kicks galore.
It’s a must if you’re a fan of martial arts and punch-’em-up festivals. The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Tony Jaa and Dave Bautista, with acclaimed filmmaker and choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping (Drunken Master, Once upon a time in China, Kill Bill, The bustle of Kung Fu) acting as both director and “action director”.
It is the first Chinese production for guardians of the galaxy‘s Bautista, who says the change in language, culture and production style has been quite a challenge.
“I was struggling at first, and they kind of wanted to adjust things and I said, ‘Don’t do that! I will adapt to you, because I want to learn this. I’m here to work with Woo-Ping, watch it, study it and see how it works. “Said Bautista EO.
“It’s weird the way he works, because it’s almost like guerrilla cinema. It has a rhyme and a reason, but it’s hard to understand. But I was lost, completely lost, with what they were doing, and his English is very broken. But he was coming out, he’s like 80 years old, and he’s still very physical, and he was showing what he wanted. He kept saying, ‘You trust me, you trust me, you trust me.’ Then, every once in a while, he would show me clips he put together, and it was amazing.
IP Man 4, by the way, continues with Yen in the lead role, has Kwok-Kwan Chan as Bruce Lee, brings in action star Scott Adkins, and would also include a fight with Yen and Jackie Chan. Shit yeah. No release date announced for this one.
Master Z: The Legacy of Ip Man had a limited theatrical run in Australia in December 2018 and will open in US cinemas on April 12.
